I was thinking about Obama’s Nobel. Why? I agree he has talked a lot and brought in change and many a thing. But, it is all in words. He has done nothing till now. But I believe it’s the effect of changing times. Nobody believes in content and substance any more. It’s about how good a marketer you are. How you go ahead and talk.
Look at to-days world of socializing. All the social network sites. You are counted by how many followers you have. How many friend s you have in the list. There is nothing personal. Everything is open for all.
So as much you can brag or talk or update your status that’s what matters. I long for those days of conversation, excitement and personalization of Privacy, Names only you know. But its world sharing all. I would not say I did not try the Facebooks and Orkuts and all, but after initial excitement could see the shallowness of it. I am basically uncomfortable with it. Extremely.
But again this the way of world. If you talk and talk and talk and get connected, in this superficial world, even if you have not walked the talk… You can win a Nobel…
We live in shallow world and there does not exist any desire to actually build some depth today….Levi Strauss is dead and besides Chomsky and Derida I do not see any one with thought alive. In such scenario Obama with his words and no deeds Shines…

You've raised two issues..One of Obama and the other of your notion on privacy and social networking sites..
Obama..yes..too much..too early..and the world's running acutely short of leaders and persons..this, i believe was in hope that this guy does something for world peace..why not hang a cross around his neck and make him live up to it rather than not have a world..let alone a leader to give a nobel to 15 years down the line..anyways..people of this world have voted for him..i guess the only criteria was hope...As about marketing..sure..that's why capitalism reigns and some companies like you know...and the others are just notions..like Big Bang...
The other..about privacy..and social networking sites..yes..they are interesting..till a point of time..and inane too..to a person who looks at it from outside, it's outright funny how people, including me, put up updates for every scratch and whim they feel..that is..if they have access to internet..also not very unlike a blog..
am still wondering why i do it..yes..in my list i have people who are my close friends, but some are just pile ons too..some whose friend requests i couldn't ignore..but not really important..but i do write updates..have been wondering..my frequency of interaction in a networking site is so directly proportional to some person i want to interact with..but then....was never a very social person..networking never my forte..
meanwhile i am also thinking of investing in a burkha...
Agreed World Lives on Hope and without hope we wont survive and tide over the problems which is there all around us...
But Hoping that Obama is the one who would deliver us from all the wrong in the world... Isnt it going too far when you say that he is the one on whom hinges the existence of the World...
As for me what has happened that America which is supposed to be land of equality and freedom and oppurtunity is going ga ga over a fact of choosing first Black President is something which has come so late... Choosing a black american (the biggest reason why world is hopeful) should actually be a non event..
The cry of equality of Human Race went in Modern World in late 18 th Century only... Three century later we are Jumping up and down about things and raising that guy to the role of Messiah... Wow..
About Social Networking Sites each to there own... I cherish my Privacy as I want certain charm to remain with two peron only... Not published to world.. it creates those little codes, understanding, a nudge can have different meaning, a word said can mean something else only to those two person..
You would say Blogs are social networking too.. Yes but it is voluntary and for me not to create following and populaity.. as you would see my readers are just few and all known to me...
As for Burqa well it looks awesome on people with beautiful eyes...
I'm in no way saying that Obama deserved to get a Nobel..In fact it's the other way round..the truth is we are running short of world leaders..and the products in fancy packaging do catch the attention of people..like the product or not..you'd surely give it a try..
And then again..after Obama..i think many in the world, specially cynics like me, will stop giving too much importance to the Nobel itself..what is it in the end? A prize, chosen by a chosen few..
The next part...You not-so-subtle hinting that my publishing something on facebook was to create following and popularity is..ahem ahem..What nah? I'm sure there are other ways to compliment yourself Shri Shri..i'm sure your being on my friend list is enough to get my popularity and following soaring..and will surely help in my next election campaign..as well as my run for the nobel..
That status change was a very calculated move..but alas..you spoilt all my chances...
..and are you saying i should drop the idea on burkha??
the comment section in this blog, again shows personal remarks, affinity and rage. even this domain is used to showcase things which were an issue in networking sites. sounds very self-contradictory.
